About this Recruitment

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB), also known as Rajasthan Karmchari Chayan Board, Jaipur, has released Advertisement No. 10/2026 for the Junior Engineer (Kanisth Abhiyanta) Joint Direct Recruitment 2026, inviting online applications for a substantial 874 vacancies. This recruitment drive is spread across three key state government departments — the Public Works Department (PWD), the Water Resources Department, and the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) — making it one of the significant engineering recruitment opportunities in Rajasthan for the year. Of the 874 total posts, 793 are earmarked for the non-scheduled area and 81 for the scheduled area of Rajasthan. The vacancies are further divided by post type: Junior Engineer (Civil) for both degree and diploma holders across all three departments, and Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) for diploma holders specifically within the PHED. The Public Works Department alone accounts for 393 posts, the Water Resources Department for 251 posts, and the Public Health Engineering Department for 230 posts across its three sub-categories. Eligibility for these posts is qualification-specific. Candidates applying for the degree-based Junior Engineer (Civil) post need a Civil Engineering degree from a legally established university or institution in India. Diploma-based Junior Engineer (Civil) applicants require a Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution, while the Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) post calls for a Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Across all posts, candidates must also demonstrate working knowledge of Hindi in the Devanagari script and familiarity with Rajasthani culture — a standard requirement for Rajasthan state government positions. Final-year students of the relevant courses may also apply, provided they complete their qualification by the date of the examination. The age limit for this recruitment is set between 18 and 40 years as on 1 January 2027, with a structured relaxation scheme benefiting SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS candidates, women, ex-servicemen, and persons with benchmark disabilities. Notably, widows and divorced women face no upper age limit, subject to the state's prescribed retirement age. Selected Junior Engineers will be placed on Pay Matrix Level-10 as per the 7th Pay Commission structure adopted by the Rajasthan Government. However, newly selected candidates will first undergo a 2-year probation period during which they receive a fixed monthly remuneration rather than the full pay scale, with allowances like HRA and DA becoming applicable only after successful completion of probation and confirmation in service. The selection process for RSSB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026 is based entirely on a single written examination totaling 120 marks. The exam is divided into two parts — Part A covers General Knowledge focused on Rajasthan's history, art, culture, and administrative setup (40 marks), while Part B tests the candidate's core engineering subject knowledge, either Civil or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering as applicable (80 marks). The exam carries a 40% minimum qualifying requirement and applies 1/3rd negative marking for incorrect answers, so candidates should approach the objective-type paper with careful accuracy. The application fee follows the standard One Time Registration (OTR) structure used across Rajasthan government recruitments: Rs. 600 for General category and Creamy Layer OBC/MBC candidates, and Rs. 400 for Non-Creamy Layer OBC/MBC, EWS, SC, ST, and all PwD candidates. Candidates who have already completed OTR registration for a previous recruitment need not pay again. The entire application process is conducted online through the SSO Rajasthan portal, and candidates wishing to apply for posts in more than one department must submit separate applications for each. With the application window open from 16 August 2026 to 14 September 2026, and the examination tentatively scheduled for February 2027, aspiring engineers with a Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering background now have a well-defined timeline to prepare and apply for this large-scale Rajasthan government recruitment. Given the sizeable vacancy count and structured career progression into a stable government pay scale, RSSB Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026 represents a valuable opportunity for engineering graduates and diploma holders across the state.
