Research Engineer (RE) B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years relevant experience in the specialization applied for. OR M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with relevant specialization and 3 years relevant experience. Minimum 65% marks in the qualifying degree. SC/ST candidates applying against reserved posts require 60% marks. Degree must be a full-time regular course from a recognized UGC/AICTE institution. Ph.D. is desirable for the Fluid Flow Research specialization. Junior Research Engineer (JRE) B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in: Mechanical Engineering Civil Engineering Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering Instrumentation / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Control / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Minimum 65% marks in the qualifying degree. 60% marks for SC/ST candidates applying against reserved posts. The written examination is conducted only for Junior Research Engineer posts. It is an online bilingual (Hindi/English) objective test consisting of 100 questions carrying 400 marks with 120 minutes duration. Each correct answer carries 4 marks, each incorrect answer attracts 1 mark negative marking, and unattempted questions carry no marks. Research Engineer candidates are selected through the interview process without a written examination.

Syllabus

The written examination syllabus for Junior Research Engineer includes aptitude, numerical ability, statistics, programming fundamentals, measurement principles and discipline-specific engineering subjects. The detailed topic-wise syllabus for Part-C is provided in Annexure-A of the official notification. No written examination syllabus has been prescribed for the Research Engineer post, as selection is based on interview.
