Eligibility Criteria
Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognised University, with at least 2 years of experience as a practising Advocate (certified by concerned District & Sessions Judge), Bar Council enrolment, and knowledge of Odia (spoken, read, written)
Candidates applying for the Assistant Public Prosecutor post must satisfy the following conditions: Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Law from a recognised University. Have at least 2 (two) years of experience as a practising Advocate, supported by a certificate from the concerned District & Sessions Judge in the prescribed format (Annexure-B). Possess a Certificate of Enrolment under the Bar Council of India or the concerned State Bar Council. Be able to speak, read and write Odia, and must have passed either the Middle School standard Odia language test conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, or Matriculation (Class-X) with Odia as a subject. Be a citizen of India.

The Preliminary Examination functions purely as a screening stage, and marks obtained here are not added to the final merit. Each correct answer in the Preliminary Examination carries 1 mark, with a deduction of 25% of the marks for every wrong answer, while unattempted questions attract no penalty.
